Vida Stamey: what is your favorite type of food. Italian, French, Mexican etc.
Isolde Geis: Mexican
VS: what foods do you grow in your garden. IG: tomatoes, peppers, chard, lettuce, arugala, snap peas, a few beats, and radishes and of course zucchini
VS: do you commonly try new foods. IG: yes
VS: what kinds of foods do you usually eat for dinner. IG: something healthy usually a salad
Recipe of the Week: hazelnut cookies
ingredients
For cookies:
1 1/2 cups hazelnuts (9 ounces),toasted, loose skins rubbed off in a kitchen towel while still warm, and nuts cooled completely
3/4 cup sugar
1/2 cup all-purpose flour
1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder (not Dutch-process)
1 teaspoon baking soda
3/4 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1/8 teaspoon ground cloves
3 tablespoons cold unsalted butter, cut into 1/2-inch cubes
1 tablespoon grated orange zest
3 tablespoons fresh orange juice
1 tablespoon hazelnut-flavored liqueur (preferably Frangelico)

1/2 cup confectioners sugar
1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder (not Dutch-process)
3 tablespoons water
1 tablespoon hazelnut-flavored liqueur

Make cookies:Preheat oven to 325°F with rack in middle. Butter a large baking sheet.
Pulse hazelnuts, sugar, flour, cocoa powder, baking soda, salt, cinnamon, and cloves in a food processor until nuts are finely chopped, then add butter and zest and pulse until mixture resembles coarse meal with some small (roughly pea-size) butter lumps. Add juice and liqueur and pulse until dough comes
you have a bitter taste in your mouth and make you gag you can make sweet things,
together into a ball but is still crumbly. Form level tablespoons of dough into balls and flatten to about 1 1/2 inches in diameter, arranging 1 inch apart on baking sheet. Bake cookies until puffed and slightly cracked, about 15 minutes. Transfer to a rack to cool completely.
Make icing while cookies cool:Whisk together all icing ingredients until smooth.
Dip tops of cooled cookies into icing and transfer to a wax-paper-lined baking sheet. Let stand until icing is set, about 1 hour.

gardens are beautiful things they can feel homey yet very far off and can also be relaxing. Bush street seems to have many nice gardens and yards. Although they can sometimes be a lot of work it is usually worth it for a beautiful garden.

weather
the weather has been rainy but we can see that spring is coming and that suns ahoy! this is are second post but we are going to work on making it better by adding pictures and more. although the rain is cold and wet it is good for the lakes and rivers that are near by that need water it also helps the animals and us i hope that you all are working on saving water here are some ideas take shorter showers,don't take baths,put a bucket under the spout while you are waiting for your water to heat then flush the toilet with it,put buckets or barrels then catch the rain under the down spout whith it.

this is the first bush st. news blog post! we will be having this blog for news of bush st. and fun things to read and laugh about. we hope we can get are newspaper out more Frequently although we have been busy also we can have people sign up to get the newspaper. also when we are coming to each door you can tell us if you would like to quit or if you would like to add anything like articles,ads,comments or short stories.
